The papers of this Marblehead, Mass., shipowner and merchant include ship's papers for the ships Anna Kimball, Belle of the Sea, and Elizabeth Kimball; materials relating to Alabama claims by Kimball for incurred losses during the Civil War, including a deposition by his son Charles H. Kimball; deeds for properties in Marblehead, Maine, and New York; and a fisheries account book containing entries related to several fishing schooners owned by Kimball, as well as other accounts. Kimball was born and died in Wenham, Mass., but spent most of his working life in Marblehead.
